Tropic Thunder Great Funny movie. I laughed during most of the movie. Lots of Cameos from well known movie stars. fb1260401296 Aug 16, 2008
Tropic Thunder This movie was stupid and gross and offensive on sooo many levels DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE.... I know what your thinking and no its not a matter of opinion now stop that means you *points at the reader* fb784818717 Aug 19, 2008
Tropic Thunder Robert Downey Jr. was awesome in the movie, and there are a lot of hilarious parts like the fake trailers at the beginning. It's awesome how many times they cross the line while making fun of stuff too. fb208102250 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Most any movie with Ben Stiller and Jack Black is great. And Robert Downey Jr as a Black Man? Whoa !!! fb1427796486 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Man this movie is dumb. That is what makes is a classic, fake movie trailers at the start, lines you can quote to your friends and Robert Downey Jr. as the dude playin' the dude disguised as another dude. fb193304786 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder If you like the trailer, you'll probably like the movie. It has quite a few good laughs and an inspired performance by RDJ, but Jack Black's role was smaller than I expected. The premise maxed out at about 90 minutes of material. fb792650561 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Good stuff. Tons of people in this movie. Like literally 12-13. Um, finally a good spoof. There were some really laugh out loud moments, and a hell of an explosive movie. Fake trailers were great too. I was like WTF? fb44400451 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Certainly has its moments, and it is buoyed by great turns by Black and Downey Jr. Some of the cameos worked, others went too far. fb32808765 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder this movie was very funny but was kind of spoiled in the trailers and ads for the movie. other then that it was an action packed laugh out loud thrill and made me want to c it again and i did on www.watch-movies.net Banananmanmanman4062 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder This was a great movie with a good cast. Downey did great, as always, and there were two pretty funny big-time cameos. It's still weird hearing Jack Black swear as often as he does in this movie, but this was a great satire of the Hollywood elite. fb1130494475 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Yes Iron man really is the main character in this movie, You can love it or hate it, but one thing is for sure and that is there hasnt been a better movie that has a guy acting as a guy pretending to be another guy. Swallow the gravy woot! fb542322494 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder atrocious when it goes for the cheap laughs but great when it goes for it like most movies this high of profile wouldn't dare. fb824556 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Best Movie I've seen this summer, starting off with the fake movie trailers, I knew I was in for good times, this is one of Ben Stiller's better movies, also Jack Black as Portnoy is very funny but RDJ (or Robert Downey Jr.) steals the show as Kirk Lazurus , a Russel Crowe knockoff pretending to be the teams black platoon leader, action packed and hilarious , Tropic thunder is well deserved of these five stars , also fantastic cameos you have to see to believe. fb594945338 Mar 28, 2008
Tropic Thunder Boy did this movie surprise me??? I did not have high hopes for this film, hell, it didn't even crack my top 15 most anticipated summer movies. But after watching it, I would go so far as to say it's the funniest movie I've seen this year. This might not be a fair statement because I have yet to see Step Brothers... but they're totally different types of comedy. But Tropic Thunder is leagues better than Zohan, Get Smart, Love Guru, or Pineapple Express.

The movie begins with a fabricated but genuinely authentic looking movie trailers which serve to introduce the 3 main characters (who are in this case, actors). The trailers sound and feel so real that at first you question if this is the movie starting or another damn preview! A lot of laughs from these bits...

I found this film to be a smart comedy that doesn't rely on puerile jokes or stoned teenagers. There is a part where the movie could've exploited a funny moment with cocaine, but chose not to.

Great performances all around, most notably from Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and TOM CRUISE... that's right! Tom Cruise! Cameo's galore in this film, but none greater than Cruise! This is probably his best performance since Jerry Maguire! He was funny... i don't think I've ever said that.

Can you imagine how hard it is to act like your acting badly, then find it in you to act like your really acting? Geez, mind-boggling... great movie with lots of good laughs and great performances! A perfect satire about movie industry....

Tropic Thunder I give this one a solid three. But I must admit, I would have liked it much more if I hadn't read quite so many reviews and see quite so many clips. fb1361936418 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Solid humor the whole way through. Not really a fan of Ben Stiller but the rest of the cast was awesome ESPECIALLY Jack Black. I'd say this movie is great watching with a bunch of friends with a case of beer. Overall it's a "Load of Fun!" fb10740082 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder The humor in this movie wasn't really the sort I generally seek out, but it was still pretty funny. I think Stiller did a good job as a director. fb1330290692 Apr 18, 2008
Tropic Thunder Suprisingly this movie was hysterical - the ending was a little confusing but i was laughing throughout the entire thing. Jack Black's character was kind of un-needed though andrewtjenks Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder A super entertaining parody of the Hollywood machine. Both Stiller and Black have their moments but the icing on the cake is Downey Jr and some funny moments from Cruise. Their are some hilarious moments and gags throughout, but they tend to be bogged down at times by the sheer randomness of things or get overdone to the point of 'not really funny anymore'. Definately has the rewatchability factor though. fb610425598 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder I owe Ben Stiller an apology. I haven't been quiet the last couple years about vocalizing what a bloody annoying and unfunny performer he was and what a travesty everything he did turned out to be. Night at the Museum was at the number one spot on the worst films of its year. This, however, is incredibly redeeming for Stiller who co-wrote, directed and stared in this hilarious and blatantly un-PC comedy. Not only is the script sharp, ridiculous (in a good way), and just plain funny but his performance is the best he's been since Dodgeball three years ago. The set up for this movie is that they're making a movie called Tropic Thunder, but it is wildly over budget and things continue to go wrong. To get the performances that the director, played by a very funny Steve Coogan, wants he takes them out of civilization and riggs the entire valley they are in with hidden cameras. Unbeknownst to him, however, the valley is right smack dab in the middle of a real war zone. So when the actors start to get attacked, they use the motivation for their performances and fight back. This is quite a funny concept and it is executed very well. I lauged many times in this movie, and it usually takes a lot of wit to make me laugh. Take Step Brothers which didn't have an ounce of wit or intelligence in it. I hardly cracked a smile. Anyway this is a much better film than that. It's well written, well directed, and the performances... oh the performances are the best part. Like i mentioned before, Ben Stiller is better than he's been in a long time. He's still Ben Stiller which is slightly annoying at times, but he's a funny Ben Stiller. The Ben Stiller that made Meet the Parents and Dodgeball. Jack Black is the best he's been in years as well. Most comedian actors all have one bad thing in common. No matter what they do or what role they're in, they are always themselves. This catagory includes Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Will Farrel, Steve Carrell, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams (usually), etc. etc. etc. It's things like this that add to making movies like Nacho Libre, Step Brothers or Night at the Museum so terrible. I'm pleased to report that Jack isn't himself here. There are still parts of him, but for the most part he breaks out of the mold to give his best and funniest performances since... well maybe ever. There are many other good performances in this film. Jay Baruchel, Brandon T. Jackson, Steve Coogan, Tom Cruise, Matthew McConaughey, Nick Nolte, and Danny McBride all do nice work. But the real wonder here is Robert Downy Jr. He was great in Iron Man earlier this year, but I think he was better here. He plays 5 time Oscar winner Kirk Lazarus. He's an Australian actor who dyes his skin to play a black sergeant. He's wonderful here and so bloody funny. He's probably the best part of this film. Also I'd like to mention Brandon Soo Hoo who is the best young actor you're likely to never see again. He plays the twelve year old leader of a heroine factory. He's quite good. Plus there are a ton of cameos of famous actors playing themselves including Jon Voight, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jason Bateman, Tyra Banks, Lance Bass, Alicia Silverstone, and a hysterical Tobey McGuire. All in all this adds up to the best mainstream comedy i've seen in the last couple of years. fb1345920007 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder I saw it twice. This movie is absolutely hilarious from start to finish. As far as the action goes its better than Rambo 4. It's worth the admission just to see Downey's performance, and Tobey Maguire's cameo. fb1492560299 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder A rare comedy that pulls no punches. Among the many remarkable aspects of this movie is its extremely high production values, an all-star cast, and a performance from Downey Jr that rivals Ledger's from "The Dark Knight." This is the funniest movie I've seen in years. fb23204232 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Excellent. Humour is sometimes offensive people, deal with it. Meaty hands boss guy was my favorite part, and of course Robert Downey Jr., friggin brilliant. adamlbarrett Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder This is such a frustrating movie. In some scenes there's plenty of quick-witted humor - mostly whenever Robert Downey, Jr is on screen ('I'm the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude' or 'I don't read the script, the script reads me' or even 'I don't break character until the DVD commentary'). But then in other scenes there's plenty of stupidity - mostly whenever Tom Cruise is on screen ('A nutless monkey could do your job'). So there becomes this battle between the quick-witted and the dim-witted, and, unfortunately Ben Stiller chooses the latter. Everything from toilet humor to pouty mouths to gross outs -- it's all here. If you find the use of the f-word every other line amusing, then this is the movie for you. Now I'm not saying I'm offended by the f-word -- fuck that. No, see I'm offended when filmmakers (we'll call Stiller a filmmaker here to humor him, as he's failed to humor us) rely on the f-word to bring the laughs (see 'Step Brothers'). Is that the best you could do? Is that all you can offer us? I guess it works for some. It seems that most American audiences today prefer fart noises and f-bombs in movies. What is about this that makes people laugh? Nutless monkeys - let alone brainless monkeys - would know this stuff isn't funny. Let me ask something else: How did the director (so cleverely named - Damien Cockburn) put hidden cameras in the jungle? Like I said, frustrating. fb32817428 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder fans of zoolander should expect that kind of out there humor. instead of going for models, this film goes for pure dude power action. i laughed my ass off. robert downey jr. and tom cruise were the funniest parts of the movie. i'd recommend it to people who enjoy crazy ass hilarity on all levels and to people who love to see celebrities get what's coming to them. fb9108301 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder One of the FUNNIEST movies of this genre I've scene (seen) in ages! They make fun of EVERYTHING...and I loved it! I no longer have an @$$, I laughed it off! fb1283398406 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder It made me laugh on occassion but overall it was just slow. The booty sweat preview was the best part and that was before the movie even began. fb12924422 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Best cold open to a movie I've seen in years. Hook a brother up with a can of Booty Sweat! The movie trailers are brilliant. Good stuff. The film opens strong, but I kind of wanted a bit more shtick like form the old Zucker movies. Still, pretty damn funny. fb752862988 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder hmmm well i loved RDJ in this movie (as a sterotypical black guy), and pretty much all the characters were goofy as hell, so yeah.Given it wasnt Anchorman funny, but I guess it was pretty entertaining. 3 stars! Simple Jack... lol I'll probably never forget that. fb509337268 Aug 18, 2008
Tropic Thunder Robert Downey Jr. isn't just a dude dressed up as a dude playing to be another dude, he's a lead farmer, Mother F****r! fb613356671 Aug 7, 2008
Tropic Thunder this movie cracked me up. hilarious. i thought it would be better but it still impressed. not a fall asleep kind of movie. brokenheartssuck1017 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Downey Jr. gives one of his best performances yet. however, the first 30 minutes make it a classic while the rest of the movie is really good but not great. fb46303246 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder over the top and not for the easily offended but very funny. Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr pull this one off nicely. calang Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Worth the price of admission just for the performances of Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise! Hilarious! fb545443876 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder This kind of reminded me of some of Adam Sandler's movies... Tom Cruise's character is the best example. fb6604973 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Ben Stiller takes a break from the mediocre safe comedy crap to bring us a truly hilarious satire on overblown hollywood actors. As expected, Downey Jr. is the real highlight and even Jack Black manages to be pretty funny. Hell, even Tom Cruise gets a lot of laughs (if he wants to save his career, this is the way to do it). And how could you not like a movie with a rapper named Alpa Chino (say it out loud). fb18313563 Jul 7, 2008
Tropic Thunder There are some great moments but others fall flat. I love Ben Stiller so the movie was quality to me. I was also surprised by the amount of cameos. I would go to see it again. fb66203916 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Holy cow, I laughed so hard that i had tears coming from my eyes. RDJ owned this movie and had an uncanny way of developing several characters into one. fb1163877115 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Very, very funny!!! It was the funniest stupid movies I have seen in a long time. I laughed my ass off. If you want to see a movie that if just plain funny with no real point. This is it. fb507218640 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder AHAHAHAHA i can't believe tom cruise was in this! this was seriously alot funnier than i expected-thank the lord! fb27316487 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Great cameos and pretty funny dialogue and one-liners make this movie a pretty dern good one. Booty Sweat! fb7602485 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder I really feel it is impossible to comment on this movie, i'll come back once i've mulled it over. But I will say Tom Cruise is quite brilliant. fb524966646 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Funniest movie I've seen in a long time. The laughs are consistent, Downey is a genius as always. Brilliant satire. fb664615146 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder I thought it was gonna be much more funny but there were only a couple good laughs but it was an awesome action film and was enjoyable to watch tom cruise dance all funny. katangel13 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder I absolutely didn't want to see this movie. Happy I did now :p Hilarious. and Tom Cruise actually made me laugh my ass off :D fb641900132 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Even though Ben Stiller is the mutant offspring of comedy people, I still went to see this movie solely because of Robert Downy Jr. and surprisingly, Tom Cruise. I was not disappointed. fb678301654 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder I thought this movie was ok so I would've given it 3 stars, but I am giving it a full star extra for two scenes alone that made me crack up. The head scene with stiller and the bat eating with black were freaking hilarious, I laughed I almost cried hahaha fb6313150 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder Funny but in a back handed sort of way. Tom Cruise's character is hysterical, especially durng the end credits. The faux trailers at the beginning are inspired. The movie inside a movie is fun. The Stiller character did a movie where he played a "retarded" character and it would have been okay if they left it at that. He and the Downey character start doing rifts on that idea and thats where the protesters are on target. The kid who plays the drug king does a good job. A very guilty pleasure type of movie. Too much profanity and sex jokes for my taste. Another problem is sitting thru trailers for movies that are far worse. fb729976473 Aug 19, 2008
Tropic Thunder Really hilarious, pretty crass, but a great Hollywood satire with an all-star cast that all took themselves lightly. fb543282955 Aug 20, 2008
Tropic Thunder It was pretty impressive that Stiller wrote, directed and stared in this movie. A perfect blend of action and comedy. Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black were great. teve265674273 Aug 20, 2008
